Committee Structures

Watlington Parish Council works with a main committee of all councillors who ratify all recommendations made by sub-committees.

The Full Council meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Parish Office.   You are welcome to attend our meetings and can download a full schedule of meetings here.

Full Council Back to top 

To ratify decision from sub-committees, and deal with matters agreed to be Full Council issues e.g. Parish Plan 
Advisory Committees and Steering Groups
To be set up as appropriate e.g.  Current Advisory Group for recreation ground play equipment and steering group to drive Parish Plan. 

Meets the 2nd Tues of the Month at 8pm.

To deal with operational matters:  Action on matters already agreed by Full Council, including alterations to them and monitoring progress.  Committee will generate programme of work for caretaker.

Example of agenda items:

  • Caretaker day to day issues
  • Green space management day to day issues
  • Any other routine issues as they arise

Annually reviewing risk assessment
Meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 10.00am.

To do strategic financial planning: Deal with capital expenditure and significant increases in other expenditure or reduction of income (Standing Order 56); and deal with annual issues preparing budgets for Full Council.

Example of agenda items:

  • Financial regulations
  • Budget preparation
  • Audit
  • Precept
  • Insurance
  • Staff Salaries
  • New un-planned expenditure

To assess planning applications and make recommendation on annual Planning Award
Meets monthly as per schedule  


Strategy Committee Back to top 

To consider new issues, respond to consultations. All Councillors to be members of this committee.

Example of agenda items:

  • Respond to consultations from OCC, SODC etc
  • Staffing structure
  • Grants
